OSW-C Emeritus (OSW-CE) Retired Status

The OSW-CE (OSW-C Emeritus) is a designation of distinction bestowed upon an OSW-C certificant who has consistently contributed to the Mission of BOSWC and met the criteria of/maintained OSW-C certification.

Eligibility:
Emeritus status is not given automatically. It must be conferred by the BOSWC. To be eligible for OSW-CE status, the following requirements must be met:

  1. The applicant must be permanently retired and provide documentation of retirement date.
  2. The individual must request OSW-CE designation from the BOSWC within six (6) months of retirement and/or at the end of the current certification period.
  3. The applicant must have possessed at least ten (10) years of continuous OSW-C certification within the last 15 years prior to retirement. This will be confirmed by the BOSWC.
  4. The applicant must submit a one-time fee of one half (1/2) the current certification fee ($75 as of January 1, 2023).
  5. Emeritus status grants use of the “OSW-CE” mark to distinguish it from those who are currently employed and hold active oncology social work certification as an “OSW-C”.

Individuals with the OSW-CE designation are permanently retired and may not use the OSW-CE or the OSW-C designation in an oncology social work setting.
